Abstract

R. Lewis Wesley, Professor Emeritus, Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech died in Blacksburg, Virginia on November 12, 1995. He was 66.Wesley received his B.S. degree from Berea College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Purdue University. Wesley conducted research in the area of poultry processing and consulted for many major broiler companies.During his career, Wesley received special service awards from the Virginia Poultry Federation, the Virginia Poultry Industry Laboratory, the Virginia Processors Association, the Korean Poultry Federation, and the United States Department of Agriculture. In addition, he received distinguished service awards from the Virginia Poultry Federation and Virginia Tech Alumni Association.Wesley is survived by his wife, Shirley Tester Wesley, a daughter, four sons, and nine grandchildren.
