Abstract

Emeritus professor Orvis F. (Scotty) Johndrew graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in 1935 and obtained the M.S. degree in 1950. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Scotty taught vocational agriculture at Breesport and Hammondsport, New York. In 1938 he was appointed head of the Poultry Department at the New York State Institute of Agriculture and Home Economics at Cobleskill. In 1944 Scotty was asked to join the marketing practices section of the poultry branch of the United States Department of Agriculture at Washington, DC. While with the poultry branch, he completed his Master's degree and in 1953 accepted an offer to serve as executive secretary of the Connecticut Poultry Association and to set up a Connecticut poultry and egg marketing consulting service.In 1959 Scotty came to the Cornell University Poultry Husbandry Department as assistant professor of poultry science with responsibilities for marketing and marketing research.
