Abstract

Dr. Lawrence R. Berg, 60, a member of the Washington State University faculty for more than 30 years, and a widely known poultry research scientist, died on Tuesday, January 11, in a Seattle hospital.Dr. Berg, noted for his poultry nutrition studies at the Western Washington Research and Extension Center in Puyallup, joined the Washington State University faculty in 1942. He was on the faculty of the University of Idaho from 1941 to 1942, and served as County Extension Agent in Spokane from 1940 to 1941.Born in Hoquiam, he graduated from Washington State College in 1939, received an M.Sc. degree at Kansas State College, and a Ph.D. degree at Washington State in 1954.His colleagues termed him as one of Western Washington Research and Extension Center’s “most productive scientists” with nearly 100 popular and semi-technical papers as well as publications in scientific journals.He was a member of the .
