Abstract

Harry H. Kauffman, retired Head of the Poultry Extension Section, Pennsylvania State University, died May 28, 1973. He was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1899, and received a B.S. degree, and an M.S. degree at Purdue University in 1922 and 1930, respectively.From 1922 to 1924 he was Poultry Assistant at Purdue University, and then operated a farm in Berks County. In 1926 he joined the staff of the Department of Poultry Husbandry at Pennsylvania State College, now University, as Poultry Extension Specialist, becoming Head of that Section in 1945.In 1951 he spent six months with the Economics Cooperation Administration in West Germany, doing developmental work in the poultry industry.He was selected as Poultryman of the Year, in Pennsylvania, in 1951, and in 1956 was the recipient of the Poultry Science Association Extension Prize.In addition to the Poultry Science Association he was a member of the .
