Abstract

A 32-year-old otherwise healthy man presented with any asymptomatic rash of several years' duration consisting of multiple, diffuse hypopigmented macules on the extremities and buttocks. The physical examination revealed numerous hypopigmented macules with irregular borders measuring 5 to 10 mm in a background of blanching erythema (Fig 1). The macules became more prominent when the patient was exposed to cooler environments and while the extremities were in a dependent position. The macules were less prominent in warmer environments and while the extremities were elevated above the heart (Fig 2).
