Abstract

The aim of this article is to present a numerical model of wear. The original research is that this model is local in space and time and deals with dynamic and large strains applications. The model is based on the Archard's law and coupled with contact and friction conditions. A numerical treatment is proposed and developed in this paper. The solver is a non-linear Gauss Seidel algorithm adapted to wear conditions. The numerical wear model is applied on biomechanics problems, in particular on the simulation of the wear in knee joint prostheses.
