Abstract

We give numerical results of a new test of the renormalised Kawasaki expression for the nonlinear response of classical many-body systems to external mechanical perturbations. We show that the ‘bare’ Kawasaki expression for phase averages is incorrect but that the renormalized expression agrees with the correct results to within the estimated statistical uncertainties of about 10%. Using the same simulation, we show that the corresponding transient time-correlation function expression is accurate to about 0·1%.
