Abstract

Mode locking phenomena in quasi 1D charge-density-wave (CDW) under a dc+ac electric field are studied numerically based on the Fukuyama-Lee-Rice (FLR) model. We observe both the harmonic and subharmonic mode lockings even under a large dc field (or an ac field with high frequency) as observed experimentally. This indicates, contrary to the recent criticism by Throne et al (Phys. Rev.Lett.58(1987) 828), that the CDW nonlinear dynamics can be well described by the FLR model.
