Abstract

We investigate horizontal vibration of a bridge induced by pedestrians. Physical phenomena induced by non-linear dynamics between structures and pedestrians, such as excitation of horizontal vibration at Millennium Bridge, cannot be understood by conventional linear analysis. Our purpose of study is that we reveal a main factor of a horizontal vibration. In this study, we build a dynamic model coupling a discrete structure composed multiple rigid beams connected by springs each other and pedestrians model of Cellular Automaton. By using this model, we study relationship between density of pedestrians and amplitude of the bridge model.
