Abstract

In order to predict the fluid flow characteristics and the possibilities of suppressing flow induced vibration in the elastically mounted square cylinders at different spacing conditions. In this paper a two dimensional computational simulations is performed on a range of transverse gap ratios (1.0≤T/D≤4) between the cylinders arranged in Side by side configuration by employing the lattice-Boltzmann method (LBM) with respect to Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) collision model. Along with that the effects of vortex shedding and fluid dynamic forces acting on the elastically mounted square cylinders also examined. Further the observed results of flow characteristics around the elastically mounted square cylinders are validated with the results of previous studies.
