Abstract

As a two-dimensional model of blood flow in an artery with a branch, pulsatile flows of a viscous fluid in a clrannel with a branch are studied for various parameters (Reynolds number, ratio of flow rates downstream of bifurcation, and period of oscillation). The angle of bifurcation and the amplitude of oscillation are fixed. It is shown that for the case similar to blood flow in artery the amplitude of shearing stress variation is higher in the neighbourhood of downstream corner and downstream of upstream corner in side channel.
