Abstract

The self-consistent problem of lasing from a Fabry–Perot resonator loaded with an active medium is considered. The selective iteration method recently developed for the diffraction theory of the resonator was applied to solve this problem. It allows one to find efficiently both stable and unstable nonlinear modes. A Krylov-type numerical algorithm was used to solve a linear eigenproblem with a frozen laser medium. The biorthogonality relations for eigenmodes of a loaded resonator are presented. The calculations were performed for the Rigrod model and the CO 2 flow laser model. The parameter region where single-mode lasing is stable was found. It is shown that a stabilized single-mode lasing exists in a gas flow CO 2 laser.
