Abstract
In this paper, a numerical study of rectangular fin for cooling of different automobile engines has been done. A rectangular fin of different sizes have been studied for effective cooling at particular given temperature range or heat flux range. Two-dimensional heat conduction equation has been solved using finite difference method controlled by stability condition. Partial differential equation has been converted into algebraic form using Taylor's series expansion. Appropriate boundary conditions have been considered. The analysis of fin will be perform on MATLAB package by simulate the governing equation and boundary conditions and can also be study to see the effect of the thermal properties on cooling rate by changing different shape.
