Abstract

Device which is used to convert pressure energy into kinetic energy is Nozzle and supersonic nozzles possess various applications and practices like in automobile industries, aerospace applications, some material science applications and a lot more. This work signifies the flow characteristics study on supersonic nozzle putting vivid divergence angle. For this study, Convergent area (or inlet area) is presumed as a constant while it is considered that outlet area (divergent area) is altering with divergence angle. Following flow characteristics (static pressure, velocity) are separately observed at 10°, 12°, 14°, 16°, 18° divergence angles respectively. Commercial software CFD Fluent has been used to examine the flow through Nozzle. Mach number, Velocity, and Pressure’s Quantitative data are also represented in this paper. This work emphasizes, the validated CFD procedure could be used to precisely calculate performance parameters of C-D Nozzle under deviant circumstances as well. C-D Nozzle is designed in commercial software SolidWorks version 2020 and simulation for flow operation is executed in commercial software Ansys Fluent using various grid refinement.
