Abstract

We consider the influence of modulation of the gravity force field on the stability of the equilibrium of a horizontal fluid layer heated from below. The fluid is bounded above and below by semi-infinite solid masses. The upper mass has infinite thermal conductivity, and the lower mass zero thermal conductivity. We propose to analyze numerically the dependence of the critical Rayleigh number on the frequency and amplitude of the gravity force modulation.
