Abstract

This article investigates the behavior of NEPCM thorough melting process including Y-shaped fins. Paraffin with addition of cooper oxide was considered. According to helpful effect of heat transfer surface area on melting rate, various arrangements of fins were considered in this paper. In outputs, not only the liquid fraction and temperature but also the velocity contours were examined. Using fins on both outer and inner pipes is more advantageous than other arrangement and minimum melting time was reported for fourth case. The longer fin length leads to greater heat absorption and higher performance. The thinner the fin thickness, the quicker melting occurs. The charging time declines with inserting fins on both inner and outer pipes.
