Abstract

Computational studies of transient quasi-three-dimensional supersonic flows over a forward facing step are carried using the   k , SST and SA turbulence models. Numerical computations are carried out for five different Reynolds numbers, Re= 3.84x10 4 -10 6 . The numerical studies concern the influence of Reynolds number and step aspect ratio on the flow dynamics. The results show that the both parameters influence the flow field in a particular manner. With the increase of Reynolds number the flow separation occurs closer to the backstep. Flow reattachment is observed downstream the channel.
