Abstract
A numerical method, based on the Crank-Nicolson discretisation, is applied to one-dimensional thermoelastic contact problems. Such problems can be reduced, using an appropriate transformation, to the heat equation with a nonlinear and nonlocal source term. It is proved that the method converges. A number of numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the method and the behavior of the solutions to the problem.
