Abstract

Abstract : The report presents a numerical solution of turbulent boundary-layer equations for both compressible and incompressible flows. An eddy viscosity concept is used to eliminate the Reynolds shear-stress term, and an eddy- conductivity concept is used to eliminate the time mean of the product of fluctuating velocity and temperature. The turbulent boundary layer is regarded as a composite layer consisting of inner and outer regions, and a separate expression for eddy viscosity is used in each region. The ratio of eddy- viscosity to eddy conductivity is assumed to be constant. An implicit finite- difference method is used in the solution of both momentum and energy equations after they are linearized.
