Abstract

This paper reviews recent progress and development in the rapidly growing field of particle simulation studies of plasma wave phenomena in the geospace which is defined as a vast area in and near the earth's magnetosphere. We review and summarize papers published in the period from 1982 to 1986. They are classified and discussed in terms of target regions in space, wave modes, simulation codes and techniques, and physical processes involved. Suggestions and caution to the future studies are also given.
