Abstract

Mathematical models on heat and mass transfer in the process of underground coal gasification (UCG) are established, according to the conservation law of momentum, mass, and energy and the features of the gas production process. The article also introduces the methods of how to determine the main model parameters and solve the numerical model by means of the volume-control method, and gives an analysis of the calculation values on the basis of a model experiment. Research indicates that the simulated values are identical with the test ones, which shows that the numerical simulation on the temperature field, concentration field, and pressure field in the process of UCG is right and will provide a necessary and scientific theoretical basis for the further quantitative study of the process of UCG and prediction of the variation laws.
