Abstract

AbstractThe basic models and research methods of airfoil icing processes, meteorological parameters, types of clouds, types of ice and their influence on aerodynamic performance are analyzed. For description of impinging water droplets on the surface are used: model of interpenetrating mediums, trajectory model and homogeneous model. Computational procedures of in flight ice accretion are considered. The results of numerical simulation of an ice growing on the cylinder and profile streamlined with two‐phase, viscous, compressible stream, taking into account the interaction of both carrier and liquid phases, the form of existence of moisture on a surface, the change of streamline body geometry and the influence of this change towards external stream are presented.
