Abstract

The turbulent flow passing three-row staggered drop-shaped tubes has been simulated by ANSYS software package. The results of the drop-shaped tubes bundle were compared with those of circular tubes having the same equivalent diameter. Four angles of attack θ= 0°, 45°, 135°, and 180° without and after drop-shaped tubes deformation were discussed. The flow pattern around the drop-shaped tubes bundle were predicted .The results indicated that the drop-shaped tubes bundle showed its superiority over a circular one in terms of high thermal-hydraulic performance under the same operating conditions. The best thermal-hydraulic performance values were achieved at θ = 0°. Correlation for the friction factor in terms of Reynolds number, and the angle of attack was proposed.
