Abstract

The statistical model developed in our earlier research is used to formulate a phenomenological model in terms of two independent variables, the defect density tensor and the structural scaling parameter, and to simulate shock wave propagation taking account of structural relaxation phenomena. It has been established that there is a relationship between the non-linear plastic deformation and failure mechanisms and the kinetics of structural scaling transition in the metastability area of the out-of-equilibrium thermodynamic potential of a solid with mesodefects. The proposed model allows us to describe the peculiarities of spall failure.
