Abstract
The aims of the research are to create a methodology for calculation of flow rate characteristics and to determine the absolute and nominal filter rating of the screen filter in ANSYS CFX. The developed methodology of numerical flow simulation in screen filter consists of three stages: 1) numerical simulation of the liquid flow in the elementary volume of filter's mesh (micro level); 2) numerical simulation of the liquid flow in a single corrugation of the filter element; 3) numerical simulation of the fluid flow in the whole filter (macro level). Verification of the methodology was carried out with the results of experiments performed at the “Diagnostics and identification of hydraulic systems” stand in USATU and “Gidravlika”. The divergence between the results of numerical simulation and the experiment in terms of the flow-drop characteristic does not exceed 2%. This allows using this methodology for design of new filters constructions.
