Abstract
In this paper a destruction of a conical sample under an action of a short high energy pulse is simulated. The paper concentrates on an influence of material properties and load profile on the destruction patterns of the sample. Under a short high amplitude load the destruction is caused mostly due to the interference of elastic waves in the sample. For a numerical simulation of wave processes, the grid-characteristic method is used, which provides high spatial and temporal resolution.
