Abstract

In this paper, the CFD calculation method is used to calculate and analyze the cavitation characteristics of a pod propeller blade based on Schner-Sauer cavitation model, and the thrust coefficient, moment coefficient, efficiency, blade surface pressure and gas phase distribution characteristics of the propeller under different cavitation numbers are obtained. The results show that the thrust coefficient, torque coefficient and efficiency of the propeller are basically unchanged when the cavitation number is above 1.52, and the cavitation number is reduced to 1.16, and the propeller thrust coefficient changes little, However, the torque coefficient increases slightly, the efficiency decreases slightly, the cavitation number decreases to less than 0.46, the cavitation area covers the entire blade back surface, the area of the cavitation area on the blade surface and the right side of the cabin surface increases significantly, the propeller thrust, torque and efficiency drop sharply, and the propeller is in full cavitation state.
