Abstract
Pitch conditions provide very important inputs that determine the flight and spin of the cricket ball before it reaches the batsman in the game of cricket. Due to insufficient understanding of the factors that influence the playing quality of the pitch, dependence upon experience or using some thumb rule remains the only option. This study uses numerical tools to understand the different parameters influencing the impact between cricket ball and pitch. Pitch is modelled as two-layer composite of top clay-soil foundation. Numerical simulation is used in the present work to study the variation of ball flight parameters such as rebound velocities, exit spin velocities, rebound angle on different surface conditions of the pitch.
