Abstract

The precision forging process of straight bevel gear are simulated by using finite element software DEFORM-3D. The key parameters (heating temperature, upper die movement velocity, friction factor, web thickness and the web height) of the forming process are optimized by the orthogonal test. Taking the minimum forming load and good corner filling as goals, the optimized technological parameters for the gear are obtained, that is, the heating temperature is 1200 degrees Celsius, upper die movement velocity is 60mm/s, friction factor is 0.15, web thickness is 9 mm and the web height is 19mm.
