Abstract
The article is devoted to the design and manufacture of photonic crystal fibers based on the AgBr–AgI system crystals for the spectral range of 2–25 μm. The design included two simulation stages, according to the results the geometric parameters and crystals chemical compositions for the fibers manufacture were selected: a hexagonally located inserts with a diameter 20 μm, a pitch 200 μm, matrix material is AgBr0.87I0.13, ring inserts – AgBr0.93I0.07, central insert – AgBr0.82I0.18. The largest field diameter of the fundamental mode was 384.0 μm. Photonic crystal fibers were manufactured. The simulation results were verified and the single-mode operation with an increased mode field was confirmed.
