Abstract

This study investigated the effect of capillary number on the micro embossing process. Computer-aided engineering simulation software was used to predict filling patterns of polymer materials inside the micro grooves mold cavities during the micro embossing process. Flow visualization technology and special mold design were employed to conduct real-time observation and record the deformations in the flow of polymer materials. Based on real-time recordings of the micro embossing process performed in this experiment by using visualization equipment, when C a > 0.15, a bimodal flow trend of polymer material occurred, and when C a < 0.15, a unimodal trend occurred. The simulation results were consistent with the visualization results.
