NUMERICAL MODELS TO PREDICTION OF SHORELINE CHANGES

Abstract

The prediction of shoreline changes numerically via modern computers for a period of time in question, is more practical and realistic, and much efforts would be saved However, theoretically, factors behind shoreline configuration are including the mechanism of sediment transport and wave deformation process utilized to obtain an accurate wave energy distribution along a coast Applications of numerical models are examined through the comparison of result of real situations conducted by different authors; and in most cases, a satisfactory agreement is found in predicting shoreline changes in the vicinity of different man-made structures
