Abstract

We compute the model climatic temperatures fields and the fields of currents and levels for the Black Sea by using the Mellor–Yamada 2.5 parametrization in the numerical nonlinear hydrodynamic model. The comparison with the results of previous calculations shows that the largest quantitative deviations are observed for the winter-spring period under the conditions of intense wind. The model reproduces the main elements of the circulation of waters in the Black Sea: the cyclonic gyre, the Rim Current flowing along the continental slope, the Sevastopol and Batumi anticyclones, and mesoscale eddies near the Caucasian coast and in the regions of the sea neighboring with Cape Kaliakra, Sinop, and the Bosporus Strait.
