Abstract

A general approach is developed for the numerical study of short electromagnetic pulse propagation in nonstationary and nonequilibrium plasma or dielectric media. It is based on the numerical integration of the second order wave equation. Special attention is paid to the response function of nonstationary and nonequilibrium plasma to the external electromagnetic pulses of different frequency bands which are of an arbitrary duration. The details of numerical code realization are discussed. The possibility of using the developed approach to study the radio communication blackout problem is demonstrated.
