Abstract

A stable fourth-order finite difference scheme is applied for solving the problem of steady-state, viscous, incompressible flow through a channel with a step. Results are presented for various step sizes and Reynolds numbers. The method converged for all parameters attempted and the results compared favorably with the literature, from a theoretical, numerical, and experimental standpoint.KeywordsFinite difference methodNavier–Stokes equationsChannel problem
