Abstract

Ferromagnetic granules show a complex behavior under a magnetic field. This phenomenon is observed in the forming process of bonded magnets, ferrofluid, magneto-rheological fluid, and magnetic brush image development. However, it is difficult to model the ferromagnetic granules. This paper proposes a numerical simulation method for the ferromagnetic granules. In this method, the discrete element method and method of moments are coupled. The proposed method is applied to simulate the behavior of the ferromagnetic granules under static magnetic field.
