Abstract

The air condition is a key factor for NO emission of coal-fired boiler. It is of great importance to study the NO emission characteristics at different air distribution conditions especially at some non-designed air distribution conditions for W flame boiler. The software "CFX-TASCFLOW" was used to simulate the combustions of a 300 MW "W" shape boiler at 18 kinds of air distributions in this work. The accuracy of numerical simulation at the basic condition is certificated by the measurement data. Simulation results show that the ratio of the primary air injected from the front arch to that from the rear arch has great influence on the NO emission when the ratio is less than 5:6 or more than 6:5. The NO emission decreased with increased primary air velocity.
