Abstract

The k- ε model of turbulence is used for calculating dynamical and thermal fields in plane turbulent vertical jets in a uniform stagnant environment. A new effective approach to the solution of the governing system of partial differential equations (continuity, conservation of momentum, heat, turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate) is suggested which is based on the introduction of mathematical variables. Comparison is made between the results of the present calculations and the experimental data of other authors, and satisfactory agreement is found.
