Abstract

Nanofluid plays a vital role for improving heat transfer rate in nuclear power plant. Solid metals have higher thermal conductivity when it is in size of nano. Hence, the nanofluid thermal conductivity is greater than in comparison with conventional fluid like water. In this article, Al2O3–H2O based nanofluid is used to find out the heat transfer characteristics under condition of constant heat flux. Three values have been taken of nanoparticles volume concentration that are in series of 1 vol%, 2 vol%, and 3 vol% which were used in this numerical investigation. The effect of Reynolds number and weight concentration of Al2O3–H2O based nanofluid on enhancement in heat transfer were identified in this numerical investigation. The HTC is changing when concentration of nanoparticle increased, and it is also varying with rise in weight concentration of NPs. Temperature profiles of cladding and HTC profiles are plotted with nanofluids and without nanofluids.
