Abstract

AbstractDifferent tapered‐waveguide junctions are investigated for coupling light between traditional dielectric and photonic‐crystal waveguides characterized by a triangular lattice of air holes. Efficient approaches for the taper design, which allow flat‐transmission efficiency higher than 85% in the whole spectrum of the third telecommunication window, are proposed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
