Abstract

Abstract The incompressible time independent Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional laminar flow through arrays of parallel circular cylinders are solved numerically. A square mesh in the physical field is used to effect a finite difference iterative procedure for solving the elliptic type partial differential equations. Results which exhibit the main characteristics of this type of fluid flow are given for certain regular arrays at cylinder Reynolds numbers of 1 and 20.
