Abstract
The hypersonic rarefied transverse flow past a flat plate is considered over a wide Knudsen number range. The problem is formulated for a model kinetic equation and solved using an implicit finite-difference second-order method. The results presented demonstrate the Knudsen and Mach number effect on the aerodynamic characteristics of the plate and the flow pattern.
