Abstract

A numerical calculation of total reflection power is proposed for estimating the phase-to-intensity conversion noise caused by multiple reflections in an optical transmission line. The calculation takes account of higher order multiple reflections with Rayleigh scattering. The improved algebraic solution to a simplified model supports the numerical calculation. This numerical calculation technique can be applied for practical lines which include many connection points and optical devices.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
