Abstract

Wash effect on the levees and river banks has been considered an important criterion during ship design recently. The prediction of wave pattern and its propagation generated by high speed vessels could provide useful information to evaluate the wash effect. Several numerical and experimental means have been adopted respectively in this paper: generalized boundary element method based on NURBS(non-uniform rational B-splines), finite volume method to solve RANS equation based on RNG k-e turbulence model and model test by using wave probes to measure wave pattern in towing tank, four different water depths being concerned. The results of numerical prediction and experiments have been provided and the shallow water effects are also investigated.
