Abstract

The cable structure has been widely adopted in some engineering applications. Cable clamp and its anti-slipping performance is the key factor to assure the bearing capacity for cable structure. This paper is concerned with the slipping resistance between cable clamp and Z shape full locked coil cables in a two-way orthogonal cable-net structure. Firstly, a new method for laboratory test of the clamp is designed, which is carried out under cable tension. The clamping force of high-strength bolt and the pushing force are monitored in real time. According to force reaction–displacement graphs obtained from the test, the reasonable anti-slipping ultimate frictional force of the clamp is determined and the precise friction coefficient of the clamp is calculated by the data from real-time monitoring. Finally, through the simulation analysis of nonlinear finite element model, the results are basically consistent with the laboratory test. The proposed method can be extended to solve anti-slipping problems of similar cable clamps.
