Abstract
The paper presents numerical and experimental tests of a new averaging Pitot tube. A geometric profile that gives a relatively high differential pressure was selected from a number of sensor cross-sections. A mathematical model of flow around the sensor was formulated and the model equations were solved. The results of a numerical simulation were used to optimize the sensor geometry. The obtained solutions were experimentally verified. The proposed sensor has favourable metrological characteristics.
