Abstract

An investigation was conducted to evaluate possible performance enhance that can be achieved By using dual shear coaxial configuration over a single shear coaxial injector arrangement, higher propellant flowrates per injection site was one of the focuses of this study because of the interest in reducing the number of injection sites. Current study shows that the dual shear coaxial injector was able to achieve much superior mixing performance over a single shear coaxial injector. Such gain in mixing performance could lead to high combustion efficiency over a shorter combustor length for future rocket engine combustors. Also the effect of design parameters of dual shear coaxial injector on combustion efficiency was investigated by both numerical simulation and experiments.
