Abstract

In this study a methodology was developed for performing 3D finite element (FE) simulation of metal tube spinning process for automotive application. Modelling of the process was related to the experimental setup. The latter provides input parameter as well as geometrical data of the specimen used for a validation of the simulation results. Solid works was used for modelling the spinning setup, hyper mesh was used for creating finite element modelling. Explicit FE model was used for spinning simulation using LS-DYNA. Numerical results were compared with experimentally obtained tube dimensions to validate the spinning simulation Parametric study was done to improve the spinning process without any failure.
