Abstract

In the present paper, the hyperelastic behavior of a sandwich beam and isotropic beam is numerically and experimentally analyzed. To this end, the sandwich beam has a natural rubber-made core, and metal skin is made of aluminum; the isotropic beam is built of natural rubber. Free vibrations and quasi-static bending are investigated for both sandwich and homogeneous beams. Also, an axial tensile test is conducted based on ASTM D412 standard to obtain the natural rubber's mechanical properties. In the experimental bending test, the displacement and strain contour are extracted by the Digital image correlation method.
