Abstract
The paper deals with the discrete analysis of the propagation of dilatational and gravitational waves in a semi-infinite layer of fluid. The problem is examined with the help of the finite difference method. The results of numerical solutions are compared with rigorous analytic solutions of the differential equation. The influence of the nonhomogeneity of the assumed net is considered. It is shown that the introduction of a nonhomogeneous spacing of points introduces a nonhomogeneity into the field. The discrete system may have properties that differ from those of the continuous field.
